I’m betting it was originally an all blue gun and someone wanted to make it fancy. They did a good job. After a full disassembly and cleaning it looks and functions great. Perfect bore. They even nickeled the barrel! Looking forward to taking it to the range. Will report back.
If it’s still there when I get back there I’ll probably get it. Maybe for a little less. The guy behind the counter said I was the first to ask to see it in over a month. On the plus side it comes with a very nice leather holster, fancy wood grips and two 20 rnd. boxes of ammo.
I saw a blue one at a lgs yesterday for $799. Has a lot of holster wear and a few scratches. Mechanically feels great with a great looking barrel. No factory stocks or box. Didn’t see any police department marks. Pass and keep looking or price ok for a shooter?

Here it is and my Dad's was lose also. But it looked like it did have some kind of something on the threads. It didn't help much as it came out easily.
Digging this old thread out. My Dad and I just both ordered a pistol each and the odd thing is we got two different looking barrels and they are both the KBJ prefix and about 4000 numbers apart. The early # is what looks like the " new design" but the later # looks like the older better looking...
Just picked up my new BG today ( KBJ series) and checked the Allen screw securing the laser and it was lose. No loctight either. They either missed mine or have become lazy. Other than that it looks like a great gun. Just a big heads up to not assume your laser screw is tight and sealed. I think...
