FWIW...I have two S&W 9mm both are DAO but different. The 3953 has a pre cocked hammer which provides a shorter trigger pull than the TDA pistol but no double strike. The cs9 does not have pre cocked hammer but has a longer trigger with double strike capability.
The trigger position of the 3914...
I just recently picked up a cs9D. It might just be my favorite 3rd Gen DAO to date. For those of you that have one you know what I mean. It is almost identical in size to my daily carry non all metal auto pistol. I don't care much for the sticky fat grips but I know of a fix for that. I have not...
The slide to frame fit is different on the 3953 than my other 3rd gen autos. The slide slightly fits over the frame and with the others there is a slight gap between the slide and frame. Why was the 3953 designed differently? Also is the 3913 of the same fit as the 3953? Unfortunately I don't...
I have a 3953 and 4053 and they both rub on the mag latch when inserting the mag just like kbm6893 describes. If the mag release is pushed slightly the mag will pass with no resistance. The mag button is threaded so can it be adjusted just enough to allow the mag to pass freely and still catch...
I have seen for sale on different sites a black and stainless 3913, 3953 and a 457 and there is currently a cs40 on GB that has a black frame with stainless slide for sale. I would find it difficult to believe all these have been "painted" black. IMHO because of the unique configuration go for it.
The S&W Billboard 1911 was a must have for me. I recently added a JRD04xx ANIB to the collection. It is a "tack" driver. One of the sweetest shooting auto pistols I have.
I have a 3953 so I know about it; and yes, the 3954 is all black. The one I found is stamped 3953. I know some other 3rd gen pistols were stainless slide with black frame. There was a cs40 stainless with black frame posted for sale on another site. So maybe some 3953's were factory configured as...
I have found a two tone 3953. It is not the black slide with anodized frame. This one has a stainless slide and black frame. Is this an original configuration or maybe somebody had the frame Cerakoted? I really like the look regardless.
I did not get the "JRD" 1911 I originally posted about. I found an earlier S/N JRD04xx with a date code of 3017. It is the Billboard 1911 with box, two Wilson Combat mags and wrench.
I was surprised S&W customer service gave me a date of 2013 on the other 1911. I probably should call them to...
I came across a picture of a 3913 two tone. A black slide on alloy frame. Is this someone putting a 3914 slide on a 3913 frame or a factory two tone gun?
I am looking at a S&W 1911 with serial no. JRD9xxx. I was under the impression the JRD's started in 2003. I called S&W customer service gave them the serial no. and they said 2013. Is it really that new?
It seems like everyone I know that has guns has a 1911. I don't have one but I am wanting an early JRD serial no. or what I have seen referred to as a "Billboard" 1911 to add to my assortment of handguns. Anybody have one that can offer an opinion?
