Jim, I wish I had the words that would help. But as you know...there really aren't any. Time and only time will soften the ache. I'm sorry for your loss.
I appreciate the offer. I think I'll wait until I get some time at the range first. I still love the way it feels...just not what I thought. I don't like surprises.
Well, thanks to the sharp eyes of grif684, I'm pretty sure I purchased a hybrid 639/669 instead of a 639. Have to admit that I'm more than a little embarrassed but it is was it is. Any thoughts on how one would value a piece like this?
It must be a hybrid. Oh, well. I guess that's what happens when you buy something based tactile response rather than a base of knowledge.
Now I'm really curious to see how it performs at the range.
I'm new to the 639 and don't know much more about the 669...so I can't answer the question. However, I'd love to know the answer.
I do know that when I stripped it, I didn't see any evidence of modification.
Thanks for the nice comments. I wasn't sure about the color of whatever kind of wood the grips are made of...the the way it fits my hand is really awesome.
I bought the Stoeger Double Defense and really liked it. Unfortunately it was too much for my wife to handle and that made her hesitant to use it. I have to admit that it was a little tough on my arthritic hands aging shoulder too. So....scoff if you will...but I replaced it with a Mossberg 500...
New to the neighborhood...Smith and Wesson that is. Looking forward to learning alot. In the spirit of full disclosure...I still carry my Colt 1991A1 on occassion.:D
Best of 2013 to you all.
