Well, thanks to the sharp eyes of grif684, I'm pretty sure I purchased a hybrid 639/669 instead of a 639. Have to admit that I'm more than a little embarrassed but it is was it is. Any thoughts on how one would value a piece like this?

It must be a hybrid. Oh, well. I guess that's what happens when you buy something based tactile response rather than a base of knowledge. Now I'm really curious to see how it performs at the range.

Now I think I see what you are talking about. Is the flare, or recess, at the barrel end of the slide is too short for a 639?

I'm new to the 639 and don't know much more about the 669...so I can't answer the question. However, I'd love to know the answer. I do know that when I stripped it, I didn't see any evidence of modification.

Just bought mine. It fits my hand better than any other pistol I've ever held.

Just added a 639 to my EDC rotation.

A 3913 is my usual EDC. However, I just bought a 639 that may get a lot of carry time.

Thanks for the nice comments. I wasn't sure about the color of whatever kind of wood the grips are made of...the the way it fits my hand is really awesome.

Came across this today and it just felt too good! Don't know much about them but I'm looking forward to the research.

I bought the Stoeger Double Defense and really liked it. Unfortunately it was too much for my wife to handle and that made her hesitant to use it. I have to admit that it was a little tough on my arthritic hands aging shoulder too. So....scoff if you will...but I replaced it with a Mossberg 500...

I know...the last one is a Colt...not a Smith. But if I leave her out she gets mad.:mad:
