    686 plus

I'll second the Galco Combat Master. I also use a Remora and tuck it in my waistband for a cross draw carry on occasion. Both work well for me with my 686+ 2.5" snubby.

Considering CT lasergrip for my 40c

CT still has the free batteries for life program. All you need to do is sign up for it, and request the batteries (I do it once a year). In fact, I just requested replacement batteries for the CT on both my 686+ revolver as well as my FS M&P40. They were in the mail within the week. I...

    More confident with a revolver?

I have both, but picked the revolver as my choice for every day carry, a 686+ snubby. It has never failed me. My full size M&P40, however, did have a trigger malfunction and had to go back to S&W. (They fixed it, but I admit I lost some confidence in the weapon after that).

Which S&W Revolver Do You Carry Most?

686+ 2.5" snubby, Hornaday 125gr Critical Defense, in either a Sticky IWB or a Galco Combat Master OWB, depending on how I am dressed.

Opinions on which (Pros and Cons)

Guns are made to be shot. Go with the 686.

How many of you have fired full house .357 Magnums - - - in your snubbies

Yep, .357 mags in my 686+ 2.5" snubbie. I shoot Hornady 125 gr Critical Defense as well as their 125 gr XTP rounds. I find this gun to be more comfortable to shoot than my M&P40. This little 686+ is the perfect EDC for me. Slip it in a Sticky holster or a Galco Combat Master (depending on...

    M&P40 failed to fire

I finally got out to the range to test the M&P40 after getting it back from Smith & Wesson. I'm happy to report that the adjustment to the trigger bar apparently resolved the problem. I shot 200+ rounds yesterday, slow fire, rapid fire, 3 different brands of ammo (American Eagle, Winchesrter...

    M&P40 failed to fire

Rastoff, MANY thanks for the detailed response and video. I feel a little better now after getting a better idea of how it works. I guess the real proof will come at the range next week. I like this gun, and hope I can regain confidence in it. Thanks again!

    M&P40 failed to fire

Well, it went off to S&W, received there on July 14th, received back today, so kudos to them for a quick turn around. I haven't had a chance to take it out to the range after repair, but plan to do so next week. However, I am a little concerned about what repairs were actually done. The...

    FedEx Refusal

I just shipped my M&P40 back last Thursday and followed the S&W instructions without a problem. Used the express box, slapped the emailed shipping label on it, wife dropped it off at the FedEx shipping center, declared that it contained a firearm (clerk didn't bat an eye), got the receipt and...

    M&P40 failed to fire

Yep, that sounds exactly like what happened. I did some internet searches on that issue, and I see that it is indeed an issue on some M&Ps. So, as someone else in this thread mentioned, it needs to go back to S&W. I'll be contacting them tomorrow to arrange to have it shipped back. In the...

    M&P40 failed to fire

No, that is 6 months as in purchased new in December 2013.

    M&P40 failed to fire

    Nope, no mag disconnect.

    M&P40 failed to fire

I tried both ways, with the slide release as well as pulling the slide full back and release. Got the malfunction either way. Complete silence...but as I mentioned, it was intermittant. Most of the time everything functioned as advertised, sometimes not.

    M&P40 failed to fire

No, I was careful to avoid that. At least twice, I just hit the slide release without touching the slide, and let it go forward.
