For my 642 and 3913 at least, if you zero the laser @ about 30 feet, it'll be on within 3 inches or so out to about 25 yards. More than good enough. If you zero it farther out, it'll be even closer for longer. Up close, your round will hit above and to the left of the laser...out at 25 feet...
