It's definitely a known issue and from what I can surmise happens to the overwhelming majority of Shield 9's. Mine did it even after 1500 rounds (until I sold it). A lot of people get fixated on not needing to do a press check. The press check isn't the issue, since you can always push the...
It's definitely better to have a range that allows you to shoot varied distances. I normally shoot 15 yards slow aim, then 7 yards fast from ready position. The latter is the more likely scenario in SD situation. Take a look on youtube of videos of actual shootings. It's mind numbing how fast...
I was in a similiar situation a couple of months ago trying to decide between XS Big Dots or other sights for my XDs 9. I ultimately decided on the XS Big dots. After putting about 300 rounds through them, I have grown to like the sight picture. I will tell you that the first 100 rounds I...
Really. Are you sure a semi-automatic is the right choice for her ? Given what you just stated, she might be better off with a revolver. Have her try the Ruger LCR. My wife loves hers. Excellent trigger, easy to operate, utterly reliable and overall safer, IMO.
Agree. More problems with WWB, especially the value pack than any other brand. Also if this is your very first gun, be sure you have a firm hold on the firearm and do not limp-wrist it as this will also cause malfunctions (especially with WWB). Federal 115gr works well.
The Shield can malfunction if it's limp-wristed. I had a very similar experience as you as my wife shot the Shield (bought it for her originally) and she thought it jumped around more than she wanted and would FTE on her. We fixed it with a Ruger LCR, which she loves. I've learned that first...
I had a Shield and now have an XDS 9. I personally find the XD's higher quality and easier to shoot and for me, more accurate. I'm very impressed with their pistols (polished feed ramps, high quality magazines). I did a lot of research and found the XD line to be highly reliable and in...
Just picked up an XDs 3.3 9mm a few days ago, after getting rid of my Shield last month. I'm finding the XDs more accurate than the Shield or G26 for both slow and rapid fire. Not sure if it's the trigger combined with the aggressive grip and grip angle. But the thing is an absolute tack...
I just said "bye bye" to my Shield last week. I've had it since 2012. First, IMO, you shouldn't post a question like this on this forum without shooting your gun. Shoot your gun and form your own opinion. But, since you asked.. I'll list what I liked and disliked about the gun.
What I...
9mm. I never understood the attraction of the 40 cal especially with the advances in 9mm technology these days. Well, I guess I do know where the 40 cal came about as it was born out of the aftermath of the 1986 Miami FBI Shootout... but that's a whole other discussion. Very interesting one...
