It is now a 1:9 twist, with standard 6 grooves/lands...not 5R. Smith changed the barrels at the beginning of this year. I think it's still melonite though, not chrome.

This exact issue happened to me a couple days ago when I first disassembled my Shield. I took the slide back off, reseated the recoil spring, and it went back on without a hitch. Seems the Shield recoil spring placement is pretty finicky.

I just started carrying my M&P9c in a Foxx hybrid (very comfortable) and went from 33 to 34.

For the record, my 9c has never had any issues at all, but my 9FS had multiple light primer strikes from the get-go. Prior to my last class, I took the 9FS slide down and cleaned out the striker channel. Now it cranks on the primer. Feed/ejection issues have never occurred for me in either...

Both my 9FS and 9c have thumb safeties (since removed) and both have somewhat loose ejectors. I've taken the sear blocks apart on both and there's no way for the ejectors to be attached any more solid than they are (at least on the sear block with the thumb safety mechanism).
