Do any of the posters using 4g W231 have chrono data with the 158g lead bullet? I'll be shooting a 686 chambered in 38 spcl 6" barrel. I'd like to use N320 but its pricey and I already have 8 lbs of W231.

I'd be shooting USPSA, Steel Plate, and ICORE. Can't shoot my revo in IDPA either. 6". Its just a reason to buy another one in 4".

I think I'll start with the 158g and go from there. PF for USPSA Bullet weight X velocity = power factor 158g X 825fps = roughly 130,000 or a 130 powerfactor I'd be near the max for FMJ. More room with lead. I'll try the Berrys first. If not - lead it is.

Power Pistol for me. Started out with 180 lead bullets. Its pretty smokey. Switched to 180 FMJ and 6.2g PP. Chrono'd about 955fps. Plenty enough for USPSA

Now to find a good holster. Have not seen much for the 6" barrel. And need to come up with a good load. I've used W231 for my 38 spcl snubbies however, I'm sure there is a much better combination. I reload 45ACP, 40 SW, and 9MM. Open to suggestions. -huey

I went ahead with the purchase. Good thing my wife came along - she saw the $50 rebate coupon for all new SW revolvers. And I can say she bought it for me since she signed the check!
