    148 HBWC loads for .38 spl snub-nose?

.38 wadcutters are one of the lost joys of shooting. The gold standard for accuracy with a 148gr WC was always 2.7 grains of Bullseye. I have been loading and shooting this load for years, and it usually gets the best out of any revolver (or my S&W model 52) you shoot it in. 2.8 grains of...

Model 41 Problem..not firing last shot??

I would also consider replacing the magazine springs, at least in the older mags. A slightly lighter recoil spring might also help - if - the recoil from round number 9 is not creating sufficient force to cock the hammer for round number 10.

    A Model 39-2 Trade

The 39 is one of the all-time greatest handguns ever. I think you made a good trade, and I think you'll be very happy with your 39.

    What would you do

I'd go for the 9mm, I'm not a big fan of the .40 S&W cartridge.

Oil or grease on S&W Autos?

I have always used Hoppes gun grease on the slide rails of all my automatics. The sole exceptions were my Glocks. Glock makes a copper based grease that was supposed to be pretty good. I used it on my Glocks for a couple of years, but it's expensive, difficult to find, and I never saw any...

High Velocity ammo in Model 41

I have a c.1980 model 41 that's still pretty new to me. It would not reliably cycle with Aquila or CCI standard velocity ammo. I had every manner of malfunction you can think of. I tried some CCI mini-mags, and it did improve the cycling significantly. The factory recoil spring in a model 41...

    Is Remmington Ammo that bad?

I've had good luck with most Remington ammo, including the 525 bulk packs of "golden bullets." Their blue label std. velocity target ammo is really good stuff. Like many people, I prefer CCI if it's available. I've also had pretty good luck with Aguila ammo. Winchester rimfire ammo, on the...

    Model 65 Firing Pin

S&W revolvers are notorious for this. If you fire all single action, you will never experience it, it seems to only happen with double action fire. I have had this happen with a model 10-5, a model 17-4, a model 24-6, and a model 27-2. I'm sure you could solve it by installing a new...

    Used walther p22

That seems a little bit high to me. $250-265 would be about right. They normally don't go for much over $300 new, but with the current hysteria everything is commanding inflated prices. They're nice little pistols, and are great for teaching someone how to shoot. Like all .22s, they're a...

    Teachers and Concealed Weapons?

Never gonna happen I'm a public school teacher. In my state it is a felony to take a firearm onto public school property - unless of course you're an LEO. I can only speak for my own state, but here, it wouldn't matter how many students and staff members died, that is the very LAST solution...

Model 39 FTE - Help please

That's a fairly common ailment with the first gen. model 39/59 pistols. The extractor and the spring get tired. Even though your bend fix is working, I would probably still replace the parts at some point, anyway. You'll get another several decades of good service out of it that way. Enjoy...

New to me model 41's age check request

Australia? I thought the kind and benevolent government confiscated all privately owned firearms after that shooting incident a few years ago?

    52-2 Serial number question

I actually just bought a 52-2 and its serial number is A1062XX. I posted on this forum about it just as you did, and was given the same answer. The standard Catalog says that the 52-2s started at A115000. I'm thinking they used up some older frames that were already forged and serialized, but...

    Help dating a 52-2

Thanks for the responses guys. The serial number is all numerals except for the "A" prefix. It's a little bit of a mystery, I might just go ahead and get a letter for it, just to satisfy my curiosity.
