New to reloading and am trying to get all the info I can. I have seen that some reloading data lists barrel length. This is usually 5". What should be taken into consideration when loading for a different length barrel? Short barrel, faster powder....etc?

Nightowl got it right. Just left the gunsmith. Bent extractor rod.

Thanks for the reply's. I have disassembled and cleaned the extractor and cylinder. Next stop, gunsmith.

Just got back from the range with my new to me model 60. The extractor sticks and feels gritty oly when the cylinder is rotated to a specific position. Rotated to any other orientation and it works smoothly. Anyone have any ideas?

New to S&W. I picked up this pistol cheap. Very poorly maintained. It appears to have been fired very little. The cylinder was so gunked up from sitting in a closet for 30 years. it would hardly turn. The only blemish is the trigger guard. It appears the pistol was dropped on a rough surface...
