alaskan 2" vs 629 4" woods carry, accuracy durability

Well thanks for all the advice, data, and opinions everyone on here, some really good points in reduced velocity in the 2" from the 4" and although I probably could counter that with some hotter loads, I think it makes more sence to go with the 4" for all the above reasons. I put my 4" 629 on...

alaskan 2" vs 629 4" woods carry, accuracy durability

Actually just recently in 2010 this happened to a friend of my roomates. I have always been able to shoo them away in the olympics but I have noticed them getting more aggressive over the years, but I myself didn't think this was possible but it happened: Outdoors | Mountain goat kills man in...

357 J frames, pressure, and buffalo bore ammo

Well thanks a bunch everyone, really like the points that habe been brought up. I think Ill keep the 649 loaded with the BB if I every need that gun for woods carry or a woods BUG but lay off a heavy diet of the stouter 357 for weekly practice, and better yet I now have the justification for...

Hi all, Hate to add to the should I buy it or not threads but here it goes. I was in the market for a ruger sp101 actually (hopefully that's not blasphemy on here) for a CCW and a lighter alternative for woods defense in WA to a .44. While looking at my LGS i found a used 649 for 550...

    trouble buying 629

Update Thanks for input. I talked to the gun shop today, they said that they didn't have a mg in stock, and if they cant get one, they will issue me a refund, but it will take about 2 weeks to get a check out to me... Is this normal procedure for dealers has anyone experienced?
