My pin is broken. I found a picture of on and as you said is a groove. However mine has only one of the sides of the groove. Securing the pin to the left but not the right.

I have the same issue with my night sights. The pin is split at the top and sticking. I dont get how this will securly hold the sight when it is working. Theres nothing to prevent the sight from sliding to the right. My local dealer tried ordering a new pin but it never came.
