Thanks for all the information and advice from a everyone. I wish the S&W Gunsmiths could replace my existing barrel with a 2 1/2 or 3 " barrel.--I would be more than willing to do that. In the meantime I'll look for a 2 1/2 " M 19. That would fit my needs perfectly. I do have a M&P Model 10...

I have a Model 19-3 Nickel Plated that I purchased new in about 1972. Long barrel so I very seldom shot it. I need one to carry with a 2-3" barrel. What has replaced the 19-3???
