    Aluminum Case Ammo

My Smith & Wesson 39-2 doesn't like CCI aluminum cases. I may have to check the extractor and possibly replace the extractor spring. My CZ P-09 goes through them like a teenager with a bag of potato chips. Both guns just love Winchester's USA Forged ammunition. This may be a bit...

So… is the Beretta M9 still the Worst?

I've tried M9 a couple times. It's OK. Beretta has been making guns for something like 400 years. I suspect they know what they are doing. My experience is that military guns tend to be manufactured more for reliability rather than accuracy. Clearances are greater and groove diameters...

Were you law enforcement in the 70’s-80’s? What did you carry?

I was a Deputy Marshall in a rural community. I started carrying a Hi-Power then my department standardized on 1911s. It made sense. Most of us were veterans and had trained on the 1911. Still have my Colt Government model, Series 70 aka "The Fat Lady".

My experience & opinion as to costs of reloading now days.

Well it's a good excuse to get out and shoot more. I'm still reloading .38 special target loads which you cannot buy and I'm reloading 9mm because I can't get the bullet I want.

    Reduced 357 Loads.

I use the classic target load. 148gr wad cutter over 3.5 grains of Bullseye.

What year is my 9mm model 39-2?

Date of Manufacture The S/N on my 39-2 is A2398XX. This would put date of manufacture somewhere in the early 70s?

What year is my 9mm model 39-2?

+P in your Model 39? I was developing +P reloads for my 9mm pistols in the late 1970s. A particular load worked well in my Hi Power but when I fired it in a newly purchased a Model 39, the case ruptured down the loading ramp and cracked the grips. What happened? The answer was bore diameter...
