Perfect time for this thread!! I made this round a project about 15 years ago and don't remember any problems with mangled brass in the Russ. SKS I used as a test bed, although I had to use CCI mil spec primers to eliminate doubles. I just picked up a CZ 527 so I'll be back at it shortly...

While working up a new load with 255gr and 296 I tried both the WLP and CCI mag. Extreme spreads with the WLP were half what the CCI gave. I was surprized but pleased , the WLP are easier to find locally.

My first choice for .44mag and .30 carbine.

Does anyone know if I can use one of these for an X frame with an N frame? They make one for a 2 3/4 " X and I need a holster for a 3" 629. Anyone tried this? Thanks!

Recently picked up a 3" 629. I have a fair amount of ammo ,but would like to find a load for the 3" barrel. Could anyone recomend a powder? Bullet will be a 255 plain base, hard cast. Looking for a full power load. Thanks!

Take a look at Life, Liberty, Etc. Pro-gun stuff for pro-gun folks ; also a lot of stuff shows up at falfiles , ar15.com , etc. Should be able to find most any weapon you desire.

Ural . You can buy a 2010 model if you want. Getting a little pricey though for 30's tecnology.

That's what I keep in my HiPowers , very fast and very accurate! Do use a heavier recoil spring. Never an issue.
