    Model 686 CS 1 4"

For the record, my entire U.S. Border Patrol class, class. 293 in 1995, was issued CS-1 686’s with the windowed Pach. grips. We were the very last class to be issued wheel guns. Our class t-shirts said; last of the wheel gunners. My firearms instruction at FLETC, by entirely USBP instructors and...

    S&W 586-1 unknown marking

Help! I purchased this today ($660 OTD) in Chattanooga and found this mark on the right side (RLA). I’m guessing it’s a gunsmiths mark, but don’t know and cannot find any online references. The single and double action TP is phenomenal. It’s much better than the stock 686 CS-1 I carried with...

    629-2

This is a yesterday find at a pawn shop in Chattanooga. This shop has produced a 686 CS-1, and a few other keepers. They research Gunbroker and quickly throw it in their gun display. Some stuff is stubbornly overpriced and some is underpriced, if you know what to look for. This has the smooth...

    Should I fire it?

I say shoot it. It will never hold the same meaning to the next person that gets it. Shoot it. 293 YUM/YUS I retired from ICE in 2020. Enjoy retirement!!

Thanks everyone, that's why I came here! I am going to get this gun back to the person i purchased it from. I'm not going to deal with the legal issues associated with owning it. Thanks for all of your replies.

    US Prop. Marked S&W 1917 ?’s

Looking at the bottom of the grip, there appears to be no material removed. Looking at pics of other 1917's, the serial number seems to be kind of deep. To remove it completely, a fair amount of buffing or grinding would have had to take place to get rid of it. Is is possible that it's an early...

    US Prop. Marked S&W 1917 ?’s

Thanks all for your replies. This is what i get for not doing my homework. Seeing the number on the frame, after opening the cylinder, led me to believe that that was the serial number. Now, it seems, I have a problem on my hands.

    US Prop. Marked S&W 1917 ?’s

[/IMG][/IMG][/IMG]I recently purchased the below pistol form the WW2 vets grandson and have some questions. Where is the serial number? The reason I ask is that a quick google search shows a blued version with the exact same number on the frame portion, minus the S. See attached last pic and...

CS-1 picture thread - Are you in the club??

My two. The CS-1 is a local pawn shop find in very good shape. Came with magnas. I put the rubbers back on it like it was when I carried it on duty in Yuma. The 75th was my project in 1998 and 99 with S&W. I was a FI at Glynco with BP at the time. The CS-1 is what my entire USBP class 293...
