K-22 beauty
I just got this beauty yesterday. Serial number in 47K range. The shop had it priced at $449 and I didn't even haggle. Now I start trying to find out more about it. Serial numbers on barrel, cylinder and square butt all match but grips have a higher serial number. Maybe I'll...
Let me know what you find out about factory re-blue. I just picked up a 6 inch 14-2 that has some finish issues but is tight as a bank vault. Couldn't pass it up for less than $200.
I had almost the exact same experience with my P365. The first day at the range nothing but light primer strikes. Took it home cleaned it went back to the range now at 500 plus rounds with no problems. I didn't see a plastic burr, but the symptoms are identical. +1 on Vedder holster for it. I...
S&W Wood grips
I have some grips from S&W that fit my Mdl 29-5 they were square ones if that's what your after, I'd sell them for $60 plus shipping. They are in good shape, but not perfect. I could get you a picture if you want.
I currently have a 29-5 with the 6.5 inch barrel with full lug. I swapped the Hogue rubber grips for a factory set of wood grips and am thrilled with the revolver, but it is a big beast and I have wanted to either find a 4 in blued barrel, no luck for 3 years running, or swap it for a 4 in...
+1 on the chore boy copper strands. Read about that a few months ago and took it to several guns and I saw lead shavings falling out of "clean" barrels. It got my barrels cleaner than I've ever seen them and it was easy. I don't even worry about leading anymore
Two years ago I was talking to a Sergeant who had just gotten back from Iraq. He had been over there as an army sniper and carried a Kimber 1911. He complained about the M-24 in .308 and indicated most of the real work was being done by .50 cal rifles. He did say he got to use the British L115A3...
I got a great custom leather holster from Lobo Gun Leather for my 6" mdl 29 and it is perfect. I got a right hand cross draw with an old school strap. I've carried it a couple of times hiking out here in Colorado and it really seems to ballance nicely. My mdl 29 came with hogue monogrips, but...
I was by a local Gander Mountain two weeks ago and had much the same experience. Big empty store with reloading stuff scattered on a card table and a guy behind the counter who acted like questions were a personal affront to his dignity. When I asked if a model 25 could be made to accept .45 ACP...
I recently got a 29-5 as well and like you I wondered about the grips. In my experiance the hogue monogrip did it's job too well. It gripped my hand too well transferred all the recoil directly to my wrist. I replaced them with a pair of square target grips from the Smith and Wesson web site and...
