    WWII - ITHACA 1911A1

I also have an Ithaca, 43 issue. Not near as nice as yours. It has a WW2 Colt slide, and someone fitted circa 63 "Micro" sights to it in the past. Same as NM sights of that era, but in no way is it a NM gun. Some day I will get off the cash to find a correct slide, but it shoots fine as it is...

    Wanting a 460 Magnum XVR

I don't hunt with mine, but still want to weigh in. First, most of these guns have likely not been fired much. The price seems reasonable. It is heavy, I think around 70 ounces. Range sessions, I am good for a couple boxes of factory ammo. I enjoy shooting it, but I AM 60, so no need to beat my...

    Words Of Wisdom

My Dad told me that I didn't have to make all of life's mistakes on my own, it was OK to learn from other peoples.

I hope there was a very good reason.....

I will say this. The supposedly Republican Governor of Maryland pushed for this law, and signed it literally surrounded by The Moms who Get No Action. With a smile on his face. In the first month there have been 114 Red Flag orders applied for, in Maryland, a small state. No one has reported on...

    28-3 Hated by many???

When I bought mine new in 86, I didn't know about "Pinned and Recessed". What I got was a very accurate ,lovely 357 Magnum. I have put a lot of rounds through it, still looks great, and I paid less than 200 1986 dollars for it. It is the last gun I would ever sell.

    Kinship towards gun guys?

The kinship is one of the reasons I still attend gunshows. Good to be around the people of the gun.

Mine is fairly close to yours at 173XXX. I have smooth stocks, that are numbered to the frame. Great shooter.

    Rimfire madness

10 rifles, 3 pistols, and 1 revolver. Always looking for the next one. I have a thing for older 22s, I am usually amazed at how well they shoot.

Need help with rifle ID please

I don't have a clue. It might be worth looking up Rimfire Central, there are many well informed people on there.

"The Osage Murders & The Birth Of The FBI"

I read "Bury my heart" as a teenager. A few years back I tried to read it again. I could not. Disgraceful. I am not sure those attitudes are completely gone either. A few years ago I was travelling some back roads in NE Arizona, and at a fuel stop I held the door open for a young Native lad...

First time pistol @ 50 yds!!

Most of the time I shoot at public ranges the "pistoleros"are wearing out the 7 yard range. I love breaking out a S&W or two and shooting at the 25 or 50 yard line...You get some good looks. I am working on 100 yards, but so far do not get out often enough to be proficient.

    Yellow Paint on Car Bolts

Some bolts are "Torque to yield" bolts, IE Torque figure +90 degrees. Or 180 or whatever. I usually put a paint mark on those bolts at the torque figure, and they should (will) be 90 degrees off when at the final figure. I am not as young as I used to be, so the visual aid is handy..

    Fire's effect on firearms

I have a Pre Model 18 that went through a fire, sometime before my Dad bought it in 62. I bet it burned the stocks off as it has replacements. It is by far the ugliest S and W I own. Almost no finish, and some deep pits here and there. From the looks of it, I suspect someone removed most of the...
