I just got a job at florida department of corrections and the switched to m&p 9's this month.

1911s are the best shooting,feeling gun to me,but,they are picky about everything,ammo,mags,making sure ramps polished blah blah blah.with glocks,xd,m&p you don't really have those issues.id rather have a 400 doller poly pistol that works than an 1500 doller 1911 that I have to tweak to make it...

I used to SUCK with all striker fired pistols until I started only shooting them,now I suck with 1911s or any single action pistol.keep shooting it and you'll get it down pat.im better with glock/m&p/xd type guns now.

Don't get me wrong there's nothing wrong with having a saftey but I didn't like it after I put a few rounds through it.hit it with my thumb a few times trying to rapid fire when practicing for uspsa matches,and that would not be good in a real match.

Congrats.You will want to take that saftey off after awhile.i had one on mine and found out I sucked shooting with it on because I couldn't hold the gun correctly and when I tried I would always hit It to safe on accedent.

It wasn't stovepiping.it ejected fine just wouldn't load next round.

Sounds about like what mine was doing.some looked like they tried to go in and some were almost vertical when it was trying to load the next round.

I'll let everyone know what the verdict ends up being when it's all taken care of.

Nice.i thought the non existent reset was gunna throw me off also but I shoot it better than my old glock.my follow up shots when double tapping got much better.
