1949 K38 Masterpiece hammer sear question

The biggest problem with the notch was a build up of old oil and dirt. I cleaned that up and ran a very fine stone lightly across it. The sear has a nice beveled angle on it now and provides a good interaction with the cocking notch. It is certainly safe to shoot at this point. The picture of...

1949 K38 Masterpiece hammer sear question

I just purchased this K38 Target Masterpiece a few days ago. The first thing I noticed, besides it being beautiful, was in single action you just BARELY touched the trigger and the hammer would drop, which I didn't like at all! Once inside I found the hammer notch did not have a sharp edge and...

.32 Hand Ejector Third Model or .32 RP?

Thanks for taking the time to explain all of this Jim. I really appreciate it! I get just about as much enjoyment out of researching every firearm I've purchased as I do shooting them! Investigating all of the proof marks on my Winchester M1917 was a bit of work but definitely rewarding! Thanks...

.32 Hand Ejector Third Model or .32 RP?

Thanks. I'll check the numbers on it in a couple of days. The guy will be back Saturday and I'll have a look see. Do you know what the numbers are inside the frame behind the yoke? It looks like letters and numbers. Did they put assembly numbers on the frame under the left side stock like on...

.32 Hand Ejector Third Model or .32 RP?

Thanks for the replies! The 32HE Third Model, which I'm assuming is the one you're both talking about says it has the 32 Long ctg on the left side and Smith & Wesson on the right. On this revolver they're reversed, the cartridge is on the right and S&W on the left. I know you can't tell from the...

.32 Hand Ejector Third Model or .32 RP?

Hello all, I found this beautiful .32 at a local shop and am trying to identify it and find out what you think the value is. I am definitely thinking it's one of the two named above but thought it could possibly be something else as there is a boatload the Standard Catalog of S&W! The picture...

    Any Corpus Christi LEO ??

I bought a 64-2, made in '80. It has CCPD 432 on the left side. It's a really nice looking snub with a pinned barrel!

    Anomaly with 27-2 assembly numbers

If you measure from the end of the barrel to the end of the forcing cone it's 6". I think that's the way to measure a revolver?

    Anomaly with 27-2 assembly numbers

Lol, I agree but it was my first revolver and it is in fine shape. I finally got the pictures figured out so they're not all sideways!

    Anomaly with 27-2 assembly numbers

Hi all, I just recently picked up this barely used 27-2. I was told it was never shot except at the factory. Looking at the cylinder face, the forcing cone, and the bore I would tend to agree. At any rate when I took it apart I noticed that the assembly number on the butt frame is 9938x, and...

    64-2 Date?

I just bought a 64-2 minutes ago that has 1D73xxx for a serial number! This was the first place I stopped looking for a manufacture date. That's one problem solved. My next conundrum is figuring out what the C.C.P.D. 432 is. I'm thinking Corpus Christi Police Department. Any one else have any...
