New Mexico Drops AK, ID, TN & WV

I left Albuquerque 14 months ago after being there for 35 years. It is headed the way of California. I now live in Texas, within 10 minutes of all 4 of my grandkids.

    Hodgdon's UNIVERSAL

I tried Universal for low power 45 Colt loads and had results like yours, with smoky cases and such. I think it just doesn’t do well with low end loads. I have had excellent results with it in 9mm.

NM Gov orders no gun carry in most populous county

After 35 years in ABQ, moved to the DFW area about a month ago. Both daughters moved their families and the mother in law moved as well. With the failed schools, lack of healthcare and good jobs, and the crime, it was past time to go.

Recommendation for new pair of boots?

Looks like there are almost no options that I can find for American Made, lace-up with a side zipper. Red Wing makes one, but I need to see it in person, not sure it's really what I want. Most likely, I will get Danners that they make a lace in zipper for.

Recommendation for new pair of boots?

I see Red Wing does make a side zip model. And, I think they have a couple stores around here. Think I will stop in and take a look.

Recommendation for new pair of boots?

I'm leaning towards Danner. I emailed them to see if they make a side zip boot in the US, but I can't find one. If not, I did see that they make lace-in zippers for a couple of their 6" and a couple of the 8" boots. I may give that a try.

Recommendation for new pair of boots?

Thanks for the replies. Probably wearing them to the range, a little hiking, and some riding the motorcycle. Looking for probably 6-8" high. Probably in the neighborhood of $200. JT

When I screw up I go big.

I would pull them all, as well. Just too much variation and the stakes are too high. JT

    Press Lighting

I use a small round LED light that fits in the hole in the middle of the tool head on my RL 550B. I think I got it from inline fabrication. It works very well for allowing me to look into the cases and visually check the powder level in each one.

    New Model 69

Sorry to to hear you are getting the leading as well. Think that I will try loading some of the Bayou coated 240gr with close to the minimum load of probably Universal powder and see if it lessens or goes away. I probably have 300 or so of the jacketed through it so far, so maybe that will...

    New Model 69

While the 6.5gr Red Dot is max for the 240gr cast, the velocity is nowhere near the velocity that you would see using a slower powder such as 2400. The listed velocity is only 905fps, and probably slower out of the shorter barrel. So, I don’t think it’s an issue of pushing them too fast.

    New Model 69

They were light loads, 6.5gr Red Dot and 10.0gr Universal. The SNS coated 200gr RNFP were 44 Special, 5.0gr Red Dot.

    New Model 69

I bought one about 6 months ago with the 2.75” barrel. I’m very happy with it, except for the problem that it leads the barrel, quite a lot. I have an Outers Foul Out electronic bore cleaner so it’s not too difficult to remove, but the amount is significant. I was shooting Bayou coated 240gr SWC...
