Yeah. I emailed them and they said to send it to them for an estimate (which will take six weeks) then I can pay them and they'll do whatever repairs are necessary (another six weeks). I'll just take it to a local guy and see what he says. Thanks!
Thanks guys! Its s/n indicates 1975.
It's going to be a Father's Day gift so I just want to be sure I'm doing my due diligence. I'll just wait and see how it performs.
I have not fired it yet. There does not seem to be any sign of excessive wear or damage around the forcing cone or the front of the cylinder, though I do t know if that means anything.
You are right - I meant movement of the cylinder. I am a new revolver owner and I and still working on my terminology. I can see now why it may have been confusing. Thank you!
Thank you for the replies. Yes, this is with the trigger fully depressed. Also, it is this way on all of the cylinders. So while the timing is accurate the alignment is not.
BTW - photo taken with an iphone!
I checked the timing on my new "used" model 64 and though there is no movement of the cylinder in full lockup, when I look down the bore I can see about 1-2mm of the cylinder edge from about 12:00 to 4:00 (see attached photo). Is this something I will need to get fixed / can it be fixed?
Thanks!

Thanks for the ID on the grips. Also thanks for all the compliments on a good find. From looking at other auction sites I can see that what I paid was pretty much the going rate (including the transfer fees - both of them!). I was worried since this is my first S&W revolver.
I agree. The...
ACP230 I believe you are right. Thanks so much! Interesting that there's no logo/mark to identify them. Here's a post to confirm (3rd one down):

Again, I'll post a serial...
Not sure if this belongs here but my FFL just received the transfer on a Model 64 and I'm waiting out my 3-day "don't-do-anything-stupid" period. :D
I'll post the serial number when I have the gun in hand to verify date (the barrel IS pinned). This post is to enquire about the grips. They're...
