    New Colt Python

I had an old Python years ago that I let go for whatever reason. I really like my pre lock Smith revolvers. When the new Pythons came out I saw a couple here and there and heard about some early problems so I waited a few years. Recently I saw in a gun classifieds that a guy not far from me had...

    Quality Control

I don’t know if it’s true but I have heard that California requires a cocked handgun to be dropped at 5’ or something? I don’t have any new S&Ws to compare to the new Python I recently bought. The SA trigger was terrible at 6# with the hammer rotating back as the trigger was pulled. There’s what...

    Members feelings on rust!

I can add this to the process. If you have a loss of bluing on the gun you can use any of the rust blue formulas from Brownells, Midway and Bob’s Guns. He sells different formulas for rust bluing. Just follow the process until you get the color you want. I usually stop when the metal stops...

    Members feelings on rust!

Watch Mark Novak on YouTube how he restores rusted guns. He boils them in water like it’s done in rust bluing sometimes and hour or twice. Then uses a carding wheel to get the rust off. I did it on my friends Marlin. The barrel was rusted so bad you couldn’t see the markings. Boiled it for an...

    Refinishing purchase??

Are you intending to polish the gun yourself? Stay away from refinishers that use polishing wheels. It takes many years of training on the right equipment to become proficient. Some smiths will hand polish but you will pay for their time. I have done a few firearms by hand then sent them off to...

    mainspring aka strain screw adjustment?

You can back it out until you get light primer strikes and some rounds not firing. Then move it one quarter of a turn and try it again until you get positive ignition and good firing pin strikes on double action. .22s depending on the brand you may get a dud once in a while.

I need a gunsmith familiar with the New Century Triple Lock

My Triple lock was hard to unlatch the cylinder. You had to push kind of hard to to get the cylinder to swing out. This was due to wear on the unique center pin being worn. I made a new one out of drill rod and hardened it on both ends. Getting back to how to disassemble the cylinder. Forget the...

How to clean a burnt revolver

I’ve had a few guns come in to be refinished that someone spray painted. I used acetone in a covered metal container to remove it. Don’t use plastic or Tupperware it will melt it but it won’t hurt blue or nickel. Hopped contains ammonia so don’t soak it in that. I refinished a badly neglected 70...

    Fishhook hammer

Why did Superman stand there with his hands on his hips and defiantly take six rounds to the chest and not blink and eye but would duck when the bad guy threw his empty gun at his head? Just asking😆

    657 41 Magnum question

Yes as stated clean and lubricant it. The older Smiths seem to have a great SA trigger pull to begin with as for double action you need to practice that pull and the more you shoot it the smoother it will get. Put snap caps in it and dry fire it. Some will say hammer nose firing pins will break...

    Girsan Hi Power

There are YouTube videos on removing the magazine safety. I did it on my Girsan M35. The trigger pin was the hardest part of it. Drives out right to left IIRC. Using a starter (short) punch to get it started really helps.

    Buying on-line

I believe once you do the transfer the gun is yours and any issues it has you will have to deal with the manufacturer.

    Girsan Hi Power

I picked up this Girsan M35 used for $399. Took the paint off polished it and rust blued it. Modified the front sight and got the trigger pull just under 5 lb. Fired about 400 rds through it and not one hiccup. I’ve got 3 Tisas 1911s and they have been great for the price.

    Buying on-line

I have had better luck on used guns than new. The last new handgun I ordered online had to go back to the company and it took 13 weeks to correct a QC check that takes about 5 seconds. Don’t think I’ll ever buy a new one sight unseen again.

    Model 1917 moon clip source

Now that I thought about it TK may make a 6 rd moonclip for .45 Colt that requires that caliber gun to be machined on the back of the cylinder to except it but in your case that wouldn’t be necessary. You may be able to get one and try? I love my Triple lock!
