Ditto on the Snap Caps I have ordered the Wolff spring sets for several revolvers and the 642 was one of the easiest to work on. There are some great videos on YouTube that I would watch before trying any mods yourself. Don't forget some nice grips if your wife is going to let you keep it! ;-)

I have a 642 with a 2 1/2" full under lug barrel. Just acquired a 627PC with 2 5/8 barrel as well. I will be shooting primarily 38 specials in the 627 and obviously in the 642. In these short barrels what is the recommended bullet weight, 130 or 158? I won't be reloading, just buying standard...

I have a 627PC 2 1/2 on its way to my dealer now. Hoping to get a nice high ride type holster for hiking. Looks like CME has two different models at a reasonable price. Different cants too. Anybody have experience with CME or do they have a recommendation for a different brand? Probably...

Thanks for all the replies My wife is small and has tiny hands. A J frame is easy for her to handle but I think a steel frame makes more sense for recoil control. The air weights have nice price points but you will pay the price I recoil. I will keep my eyes open for a nice clean J in steel...

I am thinking about getting another J Frame for a bedside gun. A 638 with 2 1/2 barrel and laser grips would be my consideration. Anybody feel that 5 rds of plus P is sufficient? This would also be easy for my wife to use when I am traveling. Her Beretta is a bit too little in my opinion...

Looking at this in an airweight at my local shop. Really like the balance. Can anybody tell me how this shoots when compared to a 642 Airweight? I was wondering if the larger barrel made it more manageable. Thanks
