I find them just perfect for me, i have large hands but not long fingers and the grips fill my palm very well. I have no problem finding the same grip from time to time. Of course, i use this grips for competition only.

Or you could do what S&W did not. Chop the barrel on a K-frame .22 I have, and i must tell you i looks good (to me anyway) and shoot good too. I bought a M-18 in about 60% finish so the pain when cutting the barrel was not to bad. And now a M-617 is about to face the same treatment Of course...
