I installed the trigger and the kit but tried the trigger alone also. The Apex trigger does reduce some of the "creep" of the stock trigger. But to get the full benefit I would install the kit also.
I also like the feel of the Apex trigger much better than the M&P trigger since I'm an XDM guy
