The barrel is very hard to bend or break, it's steel, so don't worry about that. I've tried plastic vice jaws very similar to the ones in your link and they aren't very good. Only work for extremely low torque operations. They slip even when vised down hard. I ended up going back to my good ol'...

It's my go-to ammo also. I've shot thousands and thousands of rounds of it out of my 15-22 without any notable problems. It definitely isn't accurate though. At least, not in my gun. I'm also still shooting stuff I bought "pre-panic," so the more current stuff may be lower quality.

Nice shooting. A helluva lot more accurate than my 25 yard groups. Not sure if it's me or the ammo but my 10+ shot groups are usually about 2 inches at 25 yards.

And interestingly enough, S&W just let me place an order for 2 ejectors and two barrel extension rollpins for the M&P15-22. :o

Fair enough. I do have a very good gunsmith friend. I've been chatting with him a bit and he is confident he can make a replacement ejector for me. :) Hopefully out of a more resilient material.

CrazyFingers - When you were having massive FTE problems, would it work properly by hand cycling? And just spitballing ideas but I suppose if the ejector is supposed to have no movement... As long as it doesn't actually snap or break off I could JB Weld it in to the block right? :P I just hate...

Ah ****. That's what I was semi-afraid of. My ejector does have some "play" in it. I can move it back and forth (in and out of the barrel block) about 1/8" or 1/16" and it moves up and down slightly too. I called Smith and they said it was normal to have movement in the ejector. Hand cycling...
