I am wanting to buy a Model 27 3.5" and was wondering if trading a 686-2 6" and a 66-2 4" would be a bad deal to make someone on a model 27 or if i would be better off to sell the 2 revolvers and purchase a 27 out right? Thoughts, comments or butt chewing?

I have a 6" 686 im fixing to sell and im trying to get a ballpark on this gun before I post it up for sale. I dont know what year it was made i am assuming 1980 or after of course other than that i have no clue. I do not have any box or tools for this pistol. I have attached some pictures below.

Here ya go. I don't think they are anything special. I think my dad said there was some hammer work done but that may have been on a different revolver.

Forgive me being ignorant but what do the target grips look like when they are not modified? Everyone seems to be distraught about those grips. I have just started getting into revolvers so I have quite an amount to learn but I welcome the challenge.

I got the factory grips located and coming my way.

They fit the gun well. I have yet to shoot the gun but they seem to balance out fine and feel great. I guess we we see once I shoot it.

Not so much worried about value I was wanting to find another pair to be honest. Im looking to buy a 4" version and want a pair for it also.

Can anyone tell me about these grips on this gun i acquired recently. Haven't seen any other guns with them just curious if they are factory or not. They look like the emblem says S&W but im not 100% sure.

More pics Here are some more pics. It looks like the emblem on the grips say S&W but they are kinda faded so who knows. Also it does look like someone painted the front sight post . How do I go about finding the age based off the SN#?
