M&P 22 frame break at hammer stop

I picked up the replacement M&P22 yesterday, new in case and plastic bag from Walther. Cleaned up all the excess machine oil they apply at the factory and put my Tru-Glo TFO night sights back on. All was excellent as far as fit and action, just in need of some breaking in to loosen things up...

M&P 22 frame break at hammer stop

The shipment from Walther finally made it through to S&W. My replacement M&P22 has a tracking number and a delivery date of April 1. Overall I'm pleased but had this been a daily carry pistol I certainly wouldn't have had the patience to wait 2 months for the replacement. -Laird

M&P 22 frame break at hammer stop

Smith & Wesson called yesterday, 19 days after I shipped it, 14 days after actual receipt and 7 days after receipt notification. Since the frame is damaged they are replacing the firearm and wanted to coordinate the dealer/FFL to deliver through. When asked about an ETA they said that they are...

M&P 22 frame break at hammer stop

This one was purchased in summer of 2012. The little ballistic test casing/pouch that came with the gun was dated April 2012. I usually drop the hammer during cleanings but always try to cushion the blow... maybe I don't cushion it well enough! -Laird

M&P 22 frame break at hammer stop

Yesterday I had a piece of the frame break off inside my M&P 22 (original, not compact) and wanted to share with you all. Thankfully this happened at home and not while the gun was being used! I had removed the magazine and was clearing the action before transport; as the slide slid forward to...

    M&P9c vs. Shield in 9mm

This afternoon my wife and I went and rented both the Shield 9 and the M&P 9c for a true side-by-side comparison. Magazines removed, the 9c is 2.7 ounces heavier than the shield, and ALL of that weight is above the hand. For an average-sized guy it's no big deal, but it was really...

WHO HAS CHANGED SIGHTS ON M&P22

The rear sight is fixed; it has a set screw to lock it in place but no elevation adjustment screw. There is enough of a gap between the rear sight and the frame to slide 3 pieces of paper, so there's plenty of room to grind the sight lip to raise or lower the point of impact. -Laird

WHO HAS CHANGED SIGHTS ON M&P22

I installed the Truglo TFO Tritium+fiber optic sights on my M&P22. The rear sight dropped right in, took 30 seconds. The front sight required a lot of grinding and filing to get it to fit the dovetail correctly. Definitely a lot more work than I had hoped for. That said I love the results. The...

Bulk CPHP ammo for M&P 22?

I had similar experience with my M&P22. The failure rate on the Winchesters was too aggravating to try again. I went through 3 boxes of CCI Blazers with maybe 5 total FTFs (they all fired on second strike) and no FTL/FTE. I went through 2 boxes of Federal 745 (36gr cphp) with just 1 FTF and no...
