38 Spl. 158gr LSWC- How much W231 are you using?

It does what it does quite well, and has lots of applications, it’s versatile and has tons of data out there already. As much as I am trying to work newer powders in to the mix for back up choices, flexibility, and possibly finding a better thing I still view W231 as a safe bet.

    Model 15 & 19 adjustable sights

Well if for commercial stocks generically shipped to distributers I’d say the .38 service guns were targeted for 158s. A police agency buying a number of guns could specify the ammo they wanted them targeted for and they were at the factory. Boy I was thinking targeting for PD fixed sight...

    Reloading 243 Winchester

I have done it myself with 43.1 grain loads of H4350 in a .260 with 140 grain Sierra match kings. Black Hills (Winchester) brass. They were all factory fired, fully match prepped by skimming the necks 50%, flash hole deburred/uniformed and pocket uniforming. At the time I only had a RCBS...

    Reloading 243 Winchester

Ha! I have one of those pocket reamers. I got an eye opener for you. Clean some case pockets. Load and shoot them a few times. Then run the pocket uniformer in them again. If you’re running stiff loads like chasing velocity in a Creedmoor you’ll see that you’re cutting brass in the...

    M1 Garand reloading 2.0

True. On my less than perfect garands I’ve reworked those cheesy greek wood hand gaurds down to reasonable size and dyed them as dark as I could. Then sealed them, then spit coat over the top leaving color in between the sealing coats. I wouldn’t bother with a whole greek stock as the...

New to me gun. Need help.

Likely so based off what I am seeing. I picked up a similar K22 of the same vintage under $600 but it was a bit ago and had aftermarket targets and missing the OEM diamond stocks. My stocks are anachronistic looking. I still kick myself because the guy had a Colt Officers Match 22 as well, I...

    Frustrated with sellers on GB

I could see that happening. Same as the same seller relisting the same gun three times in six months, just like gunjoker. Looking to find the "right" buyer. I'd only been burned a few times, once as a seller where I shipped a $40 part on faith in the word that the guy was simultaneously...

    S&W Model 617

Heck I got a 1950's K22. It gets rather sticky ejecting target ammo after about eight to ten cylinders full. My buddy with a 70's or 80's M18 has it worse and has to use the bench carefully to push his ejector rod. IMHO S&W just reams the cylinder holes too small. I don't recall what...

    My “new” Model 66-2 4”

66 4" guns are pretty much the ideal! That should be a fun one!

    IMR 4895 vs H 4895

I still have a goodly amount of IMR 4895 in an 8 pound jug and just a one pound of the H variety. H variety goes in the hunting loads and I variety goes in the Garand and M14 loads. I already decided when the 8 pound jug of IMR is empty to replace with Hodgdon. Hopefully it's not at gougery...

    Pennsylvania State Police 19-4

I want to say the Commemorative my union guys had made back in the day was a 686, our last issue revolver was a 681. (all about six years before my time) I had been offered over half a dozen of those commemoratives, sometimes as cheap as a stock gun and sometimes at "do you think I'm nutz"...

Consorting with the enemy (hey, its better than no consorting at all!) S&W herecy!

I am a Smith lock work fan but I am very glad Colt is getting back in the game. It’s good for shooters and America.

Consorting with the enemy (hey, its better than no consorting at all!) S&W herecy!

I was offered a Smython years and years ago by a state trooper who used to shoot a lot of games. My nose wrinkled at the thought of the bastard child and I passed and it was cheap too. Should have grabbed it.

The most rusted stainless steel gun I have ever seen in person - a PSA!

That's what I do, currently with the Minwax as Johnson is sadly gone. I have to as I sweat! I used to work in a gun shop and even today when looking at a gun I hand it back to the counter man and suggest they wipe it down as I always have a trace of salty sweat on my hands. A gun shop gun...
