These don't but some do. For instance, well-fitted 1911s do well by running oiled and dirty to lap the slide to the frame.

Nearly all of them. A 9mm Wilson. A lovely HK P7. A 37 mm gas gun (that is fab for backyard fireworks). A .22 Korth I bought my brother. A couple Caesar Guerini shotguns. Etc. For the most part, if they aren't special I try not to buy them. By the way, Andyd that's a hell of a collection.

This I think is exactly correct. Two aphorisms here are (I) buy once, cry once and (ii) quality over quantity. It's applies to everything; cars, houses, spouses, friends, audio, cameras, and guns. Etc.

That's funny. They make a nice 1911 too, I love mine. :p Personally I agree with the ALG but popped another $20 for the ACT for my daughter. She uses lightweight springs as well.
