.....Question about the Model 640 Centennial....

Hi, yes mine is one of new and first of the Centennials S&W brought back in 90 or 92 I can't remember the year exactly. It is rated for +P+ and has CENxxxx as a prefix. I have always wondered just how many guns S&W marked that way, mine is under the 1500 SN that I was told they built at the...

    First Revolver

As a kid my first revolver was a Ruger convertible six 22/22mag. Went to the gun store to buy a Colt Scout but when the guy behind the counter put that Ruger down next to that Colt there was no comparison for the difference in money. Then I turned 15 and bought a WWll 45 Remington 1911 new in...

.....Question about the Model 640 Centennial....

When I bought my 640 Stainless Centennial back in 92 I was told that only the first 1500 guns would have the prefix CEN. I have seen another one that had a number that was around CEN2300. Does anyone know exactly how many were made in that first release with the CEN in the SN? Thanks in advance...

.....ARE YOU GUYS FAMILIAR WITH UNDERWOOD BRAND AMMO......

I have found that these guys load up to the highest specs allowed and only use premium bullets. Folks that have chronoed various calibers have all come back with faster speeds than given on the box from the manufacturer. I use their 135gr, JHP, 40 cals in my 22 Glock and at 1400 FPS feel like...

    Winchester Silver Tips

.....Silvertips..... Back in the early 90's my gun store owner friend advised that I carry something a little lighter than the 158 GR lead hollow points, or as you guys know the FBI load, that I had in my lightweight snubs. So I bought a box of 50, 110 GR winchester Silvertips and most are...

    ......STRANGE MODEL 14.........

Thanks guys, great info!! The gun is in fact a 14-3 and yes it does have a ramped "heavy" barrel not tapered. My friend will be overjoyed to hear all this good stuff! You guys are great, much thanks, Lewis.....

    ......STRANGE MODEL 14.........

My friend just bought a model 14 still new in the box and serial numbered to the gun that was made in 1968. What has me confused is that it has a 4" barrel with out a Patridge front sight. I know they could be had with a 4" 5" 6" and 8 1/2" but what does he have without the target front sight...

WTT: 1942-45 MIL 1911 ITHACA SLIDE FOR REM RAND SLIDE

I know this is an S&W site but I am a member and what the heck. I have an arsenal refinished 1911. It has an Ithaca marked slide in near perfect condition but the lower is serial numbered to the Remington Rand 1911 group. This kind of mis-match is very common with arsenal referbs. So if someone...

    --------Revolver VS Auto---------

I forgot to mention my Model 36 in my original post... In order to make my post germain to this section I forgot to mention what I still carry today. While my bedside is a 40 cal Glock, my car has my old 36 with me and my model 12 is a couch gun. Both were former police owned, the 36 was a LAPD...

    --------Revolver VS Auto---------

Back in the early 90's I got back into shooting handguns again and soon developed a meaningful relationship with a group of guys at the local indoor shooting range. These guys were all middle aged and fairly well off financially and bought any handgun they wanted, remember the "wonder nines" it...

If you could only have 1 J frame, what would it be?

-----Model 42 Centennial Airweight....... I have many snubs to pick from. As a shooter I would go with my 640 with CEN as the prefix in the SN. A little heavy to throw in the pocket but a real gun in a small size. My 42 Centennial Airweight, the "lemon squeezer" with the safety deactivated is...

Hi from the once great state of California...

Hi, I am a 67 year old S&W lover from forever. Worked in the film Ind for 30 years, now retired. Twenty years ago I took up Trapshooting and my collection of handguns have been sitting in the safe all this time. Trap Shooters just don't get handguns, my shotgun is just a tool to break targets...

    ..............."National Match"..... "1 of 500" .........

First I would like to say hello, as I am new to this Forum. I am going to be selling some of my handguns as I have been a Trapshooter for the last 23 years and had all my guns sitting in a safe all this time. I thought I would give you real S&W guys a shot at this before I take it and some other...
