    Model 19-4 Questions

Is that because the faster velocity of the lighter (125 gr) bullet is hotter and exerts more strain on the gun or it's forcing cone, or top strap than the slower, heavier 158 gr bullet?

    Model 19-4 Questions

Thanks BirdGun, I own a heavily used former LEO carried 19-3, that I only shoot the 38 sp with. I also own a Never Fired 19-4, that I am thinking about using for shooting 357's for practice, because there's a huge difference between firing 38 v/s 357 mags. I figure if you're gonna have a...

I understood the top strap weakness problem was solved with the 19-4. Can anyone verify this?

    Model 19-4 Questions

#1) Supposedly the 19-4 was the last model 19 with the Pinned Barrel & Recessed Cylinder. When these (pre 19-5) guns are advertised for sale, the ads almost always brag about the "Pinned Barrel & Recessed Cylinders". What's the big deal about these features, or is it just because that was...

Need information about model 19-4 revolver

It's my understanding the 19 dash 4 is the last model that has the pinned barrel & recessed cylinder. It's also the 1st model of the famous 19 series K frames that had the strengthened top strap above the cylinder. Previous 19's (no dash, 1, 2 & 3) were known to develop weakening at the front...

    Detroit PD 2"

Hey Randy, I think I used to own that gun. And yes, the DPD must have really liked all their nickel guns. I remember dad's 1st duty revolver that was his department issue as a rookie. I don't remember what model, but I'm sure it was a S&W 38 special, most likely with a 5 inch barrel, and...

    Speer 135 Gr SB

So, the "over expansion" actually results in overall smaller diameter when the petals bend too far back, creating the smaller hole, thus, leading to the "OVER Penetration" they talk about when fired thru the (higher velocity) longer barrels. Thanks, that explanation clears up the confusion...

    WTB K frame snubbie

Any interest in a 2 in Nickle snubbie, M&P (a/k/a "Pre 10) 38 sp? It was my dad's duty revolver that he carried his last 2 years as a Lieutenant with the Detroit Police Dept. Looks like it's seen very little use. $400, I'm in Michigan. If you give me an email, I'll send lots of good pics...

    The Ultimate Model 10 Thread!

Your "Pre-10" Can you please educate me to just what makes your 1st pic a "Pre-10" ??? I have the exact 5 screw snubby in Nickel but serial #'s indicate it was manufactured in 1977. That also coincides with the original purchase permit date on my dad's safety inspection certificate when he...

    The Ultimate Model 10 Thread!

Are you sure that's not a "5 Screw" ? I have one that my dad bought just before he retired from Detroit Police in 1977. There's a 5th screw under the right side grip, near the top. I believe these were called the "Pre-10"

My Detroit Police commemorative says 1 of 865, but I think they all say that. (like the pic of the one in post #30 of this thread).
