    Grandpa's .38 Top Break...Need Information

I'm not the one to ask but it looks like 38 S&W ammo is expensive. Reloader wouldn't care though. If I saw that one for $300 I'd probably have to have it. I can load the ammo though.

    Grandpa's .38 Top Break...Need Information

3rd model 1884-1895? I can't read the appendix very well that lists SN range by years. Just a stab at it.

Model 36 getting uncomfortable to shoot

I shoot 38 Short Colt ammo in my 836 and model 36 but loaded with Hornady SD ammo right now. Also the grips are Uncle Mikes but I think they're no longer available.

    My first squib

I had one a few years ago with a 9mm reload. Soooo, I know it was something I caused. Probably a case that got a light powder charge or none at all. Bullet was partially stuck in the barrel so the next round couldn't camber. Lucky me. I don't use a progressive press and visually check ever...

    Musings on the M1 carbine

I have both and shot both extensively. I'll take the carbine if my life depends on it. That's all I have to say about that.

    reload 9mm?

I reload 9mm but it's about the same situation as loading shot shells. The price isn't really a factor as they are very close. Factory ammo being a little more expensive but not much. I just buy shotgun ammo these days mostly because of high price of shot. That isn't the situation with 9mm...

    Shipping long guns through mail

We have Ace, Home Depot and Lowes. None of them ship guns. Most of our in home FFL dealers are gone due to a new state law that requires enhanced security systems etc.

    Shipping long guns through mail

Double like this post. In the event that you want to live on the ragged edge you can ship it USPS ground but realize the risk. Insure it like it will be stolen and then get ready for the USPS scuffle of denying the claim. They don't do well with claims and it takes an act of congress to process...

    S&W 31-1

I like yours much better than my 31-1. Old school HE look.

    Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act

Unfortunately that isn't the interpretation of 2A today by the courts. Actually never has been as far as I know. Everyone in every state is infringed in one way or another regarding 2A, if by no other legal authority than GCA and NFA. Then you get to the state laws and really get infringed. I'm...

    Concealed Carry Reciprocity Act

I'm not sure why most RKBA advocates can't understand 10A, or even 2A for that matter. 2A only applies to what the federal government can't restrict although they do it anyway with NFA 34 and GCA 68. If you want to call a foul that's where it is, not what's in the state constitutions and...

    S&W 31-1

I have one just like that. 31-1 with a sn 792xxx. Not sure of the DOM though. I don't think S&W records are very detailed as to the production dates. H prefixes began in 1969. Four inch barrel deleted in 1978. I have the box and original grips. Wonderful little shooters.

Durned if I ever saw such hard, tight primers!

He should be able to see the difference immediately. look for the Berdan double flash hole. https://www.ammunitiontogo.com/lodge/boxer-vs-berdan-primers/

Durned if I ever saw such hard, tight primers!

I use a Lee Universal decapping die. Those are about twice as strong as any standard pin. I just decap in a separate operation. Other than that I've never heard of primers being that tight unless it was Berdan cases. Then they always break decapping pins. I came across that in some 30 carbine...

    Medicare Advantage Plans

A supplemental can be either. Medigap or advantage plan. They are not the same. Medigap is one standard contract that all insurers have to go by. Advantage plan is a contract that the insurer writes that you and the hospital have to dig through to figure out the cost after Medicare. And they...
