I have cleaned the gun. Or at least pulled the slide off and cleaned the barrel and slide. The defect is on the right side if you are aiming the gun. I also experienced a light fire as well. The bullet got lodged in the barrel. When I looked at the primer there was a very very small indention...
The cases are looking worse and are denting even more. The blemish does not disappear when resized in my Lee Carbide resizing die.
Can someone explain to me how it is hitting the extractor in the first place seeing how its the part that pulls the casing out of the barrel? And the casing falls...
3 o'clock is as if I were looking straight down from the bullet side.
Thanks for the help. I'm no gunsmith. Not sure how easy the ejector is to get out. Any advice on removal?
Ok. I took 2 rounds and marked them 12 o'clock 3, 6 & 9. I loaded 1 with 12 facing up. Fired it without a magazine in it. The defect was on the 3 o'clock position. I took the second round and fired it the same way. The defect was at the 3 o'clock position again.
Any ideas?
The brass is landing all over the place. It happens to every round and none of these were stepped on. I was using one magazine the whole time due to wait times. I will test my extra magazine as well as mark some rounds with a sharpie and report back.
Thanks for all of the suggestions. I love...
I dont really see any signs of brass. There could be a little near the ejection area but nothing significant enough to tell exactly where it's hitting.
I said up above that my nephew is shooting the same reloads as me with his SD 40 and its not doing this to them. The case is bent in a little. No illusion. I've narrowed it down to the fact that its not the reloads due to the SD 40.
This happens with factory ammo as well.
Pretty sure the ejection is normal but I haven't noticed it personally. Do you have a link to the extractor part? The gun is virtually brand new. Do you think Smith and Wesson would look at it?
Thanks.
This defect also appears on factory rounds as well. My nephew has a SW SD40 and fired these same reloads. His does not do this to the cases. What can I do to stop this?
Thanks.
The gun is an M&P 40C and has fired around 300-400 rounds. I am starting to reload now and have been picking my brass up. But I noticed something that it is doing to the cases. Any ideas?
Ok. So I saw people recommending them. I also saw that they had a page on Facebook. It had a phone # and the store hours said "Always Open". So I called the # and the guy answered with an unpleasant "hello". I asked if this was JK Bullets. He said "yes, but we are closed right now". I told him...
Anyone tried this and have any successful recipes? I have 1lb of this stuff and was wondering if it was a good idea to give it a try. I will be using either 165 or 180 FMJ bullets.
Thanks.
Seeing how we are on the brink of a civil war. Where in the heck is everyone buying their supplies? Powder mainly. I need suggestions. I picked a great time to decide to start reloading huh? I will mainly be reloading .40 S&W rounds. Looks like EVERYONE is constantly sold out since Obama's...
