    Victory cartouche

That's the date I have come up with. Sadly this old gal wore a pair of magna's for what appears a long time. I did replace the grips and the lanyard. General conscious is the cartouche was added for reissue in the 50's or possible early 60's. I had not thought about this but these Victory...

    Victory cartouche

Anyone see a Navy Victory with this DOD cartouche before?

    .32 Hand Efector 5th Change?

I picked up this cute little thing yesterday. Near as I can tell it's a Model of 1903 5th change. Serial number is 250677, it's under the barrel and the back of the cylinder. What's odd is the butt has had several lines cut in it obscuring any marking. Shows some surface imperfections from...

    Why 8 3/8" Model 27's?

That brings back some old memories. I just picked up a 27-2 in 8.375 on a trade deal. Planned on turning it but I'm kind of liking it. Apparently someone mag-na-ported it and put it away. Looks like less than a box through it. Didn't S&W use a single port in front of the sight on the PC...

    Opinions on this 29-2

That set up would probably be $850+/- in my AO. I've become very fond of my 4" 29. I restored an old case for it last year and it's just like your one in the photo.

    New 686 38 special +P

Very nice. I just picked up a 2.5" round butt in .357, now to find some grips. I think I'll try the S&W boot grips.

Fair asking price for Mint 29-2?

The local shops around here would ask $1200+ for that as described. Some one would buy it sooner or later.

    Screw driver tip

Who makes the 1/4 inch driver tip(spanner) that fits the rear sight blade nut? I have seen photos but can not locate one. I could make one, but would like to add a manufactured tip to my tip block. Thanks.

    1905 4th M&P needs a hammer

I have come to posses a 1905 4th change #36435X. The hammer has been bubba'd very badly. The sear notch is to far gone to save. Does anyone have an idea on finding a hammer. I have two pre M10 hammers but they are different. If I swapped both hammer and trigger would that be a workable...

    Safety hammerless question

After a close inspection I see a lot of wear on the top of the bolt/cyl stop. I assuming this is a 2nd model safety hammerless with the #148919. I need to search for parts. Thanks again.

    Safety hammerless question

Thanks Mark. One more newbie question. I get a fairly tight lock up with the trigger pulled, timing seems good, but with the trigger released I can rotate the cylinder CCW. Normal? Or a combination of wear at the bolt and cylinder notches.

    Safety hammerless question

I picked up a 38S&W safety hammerless, Serial #148919, and have a question about the firing pin. Is it always suppose to protrude from the frame? I normally would expect it to draw back into the frame when the trigger is released. It does not do that. There is spring tension against it, it...
