I've had both, price difference for the ctr is definately worth it. It locks up solid and comes with qd sling points. That being said, there is nothing wrong with the moe.

You could also check out magpuls urban dark earth color. Its a larue tactical exclusive color. I don't know if that color is something your looking for or not, but its different and would save you the headache of painting.

I have used the duracoat shake n spray to finish an old s&w 916 12 gauge shotgun. The color I used was gloss black. The finish is beautiful as well as durable. Can't say much for how it works on plastic though.

no, but i did cut the "hook" off of the hammer to remove some weight thus allowing it to move quicker since the springs are much lighter. gtg every shot, 0 problems :-)

I polished the contact points and replaced with the yellow Jp enterprises spring set. I also tapped the lower receiver above the grip and installed a set screw to reduce take up. the end result is now a smooth and light trigger with virtually no pre travel.

like splittiebus showed, I use the grip more as an index point on the handguard. I see where a vfg could be used as an actual "grip" but those are situational and IMO not the everyday use of the vfg. Indexing the weapon on the handguard in front of and against the grip gives me optimal control...

I have used Smith&Wesson lube in the past, its good stuff. Mobil 1 for me now.

ive been looking at the same magnifier for a while, just wondering how the eye relief is. is it still ok when shooting with your stock fully extended?

I have an eotech 512 on my m&p15 sport. I have removed the factory front and rear sight and installed magpul mbus front and rears. with the mbus flipped up, you can clearly see through the eotech window and the sights co-whitness with the reticule. will post a few pics when I get home.

I too have done this and would suggest putting your weapon on a very solid surface to work on. Although my work bench is pretty solid, it was absorbing some of the force of my hammer. Moved to the concrete garage floor....perfect.

duracoat is amazing stuff. I re-did a rusty old S&W 916-t shotgun that was my grandfathers and it turned out beautiful. Its not worth much but it was very sentimental.
