The barrel and all the other parts that are supposed to have serial number marking are marked S1463XX. I have owned two 1950 Target models, this looks identical to them except 5" barrel, it is the satin blued variation. I can text pics to anyone who would be kind enough to post them for me.

While a 4" 629 no dash is my favorite Magnum, I recently picked up a Highway Patrolman 4" 28-2 that has been converted to .44 Magnum using a tapered M/24 4" barrel. I shoot light 3.5gr. & 5.0gr. Bulleye with 200gr. RNFP Cowboy loads in it.

With the barrel roll mark appearing to be off center I believe the barrel to have been shortened. When the front sight was re-attached the pins were left proud so as not to require refinishing.
