    Heels & hues

In preparation for my upcoming ammunition tests (still building the target packages) I wanted a fast way to recognize which of my magazines was holding which type of cartridge. That's also something I want to do anyway so I can immediately tell the difference between FMJ loads for the range &...

What do you guys use for lube on your rails?

I've been running a lot of tests on lubes and greases and cleaners (too early to draw final conclusions) and as a result I've had a lot of dirty guns through here. Every one of them ended up with Slide Glide on the rails and left here with a much nimbler feel, smoother, less drag. But to be...

    Chemistry

I didn't leave it out - I considered it - found evidence it isn't true - and discarded it.

    Chemistry

Thanks everybody for responding. It's a small sampling but it does suggest a few things - that not many owners have tried these - and that among those who have, no one was disappointed. That's useful - so again - thanks.

    Point Shooting Practice..OUTDOORS!!

I just got in a SureStrike from Laser-Ammo - it's the size of a cartridge. You chamber it and when the firing pin hits the switch (where the primer would be) a short red laser burst comes down the barrel. I can do point shooting practice indoors all I want and overall the batteries cost me less...

    Concealed Carry Vest

You may also want to check out the Concealed Comfort Cell Pal holster. It completely hides the gun under the front of your trousers but uses your cell phone case as a handle. The 3-step draw process is faster than it sounds: use your strong (shooting hand) to push your trouser front (belt...

    CTC light guard for M&P

Brilliant - literally - 100 lumens - hit the bad guy in the eyes and he'll have a tough time aiming at anything - you'll have a very clear view of what you need to shoot - high-capacity battery - the mount goes on the Picatinny at the front but also grasps the bottom of the trigger guard - a ton...

    Chemistry

Thanks, Andy. As it happens, I just requested a sample opf CorrosionX this weekend. The Militec-1 docs I saw said to heat to 150F; I sent info requests to both Crimson Trace and S&W to confirm that those temperatures (150-200F) would have no bad effects on their hardware. I am exploring...

    Ammo For My Mp 9MM

I just bought 1000 rounds of Federal American Eagle FMJ 115gr from Lucky Gunner for $215; they had some Russian and Czech ammo for less but I don't believe in risking a weapon for a penny or two a round.

    Paint for marking mags?

Did you fill it in coarsely then clean off the surface level? I like what you did - please take a moment to detail your process.

    Paint for marking mags?

Oddly enough, I just got in touch with RPM this morning to get some samples of Testors paints (used by model-makers) to try in just that application - note the one well on the top of the base plate with no marking - seems a good place to drop a dot of paint.

    55 gallon drums for backstop

That's very clever - if a bit more than I would want to spend in my own yard - the barrels are $5-10 each and fill dirt is free but the top soil isn't. I'm asking zoning to consider shooting range guidelines but I'm not sure the Ohio Revised Code gives them any authority to do those, one way or...

    55 gallon drums for backstop

Here in the Blizzard Belt, there are several commercial outdoor ranges but I don't know of any that are (or should be) open year-round.
