M&P 45 last round in mag FTF

But would this theory (of inertia loosening the round in the magazine) explain why ball ammo will feed but hollow points will not....? Mntsmith, examine the chamber area with a magnifying glass, looking for brass residue in one particular spot. That might give a clue as to where the problem...

M&P 45 last round in mag FTF

mtnsmith, could the bullet tips be dragging on the feed ramp (because of a slightly different angle on the last round)? If the pistol has machining marks going across the feed ramp, maybe it would help to smooth them out with sandpaper or emory cloth...? I polished out the ramp on a Colt...

    Remember the Escort pistol?

Murphydog, assuming it's clean and the slide's well lubed: That particular pistol has a very short barrel and correspondingly a short recoil spring. I suspect the spring may be binding up when it's fully compressed. If the Wolff spring is stronger, then that would make the problem worse...

    slide lock problems

Trouble with the slide lock might be caused by the magazine follower. Can't see the pistol from here, but there's likely a recessed lip on the mag follower that presses upward on the slide lock mechanism, after the last round is fired. You can see how it operates by looking inside the chamber...

Anybody shoot/own just one style of S+W pistol?

No planning for me. I'm an equal opportunity shooter, with an S&W 639, a Colt .380 Govt, and a Ruger ,22. I like the Smith 639 the best though, for it's SA/DA action and all-stainless with walnut grips looks. If a good deal pops up, and cash is in hand, it's hard to pass up no matter if you...

How often to clean .22 barrel?

I like to clean after every shooting session, for corrosion control more than anything else. I just run an oily patch down the barrel to rid it of any moisture or anything that might cause rusting.

    Sigma 9mm problem

I'd agree with the previous posters that suggested the trouble may be a weak magazine spring. If you feel confident in taking the mags apart, you can compare the tension of both springs and confirm that's the problem. Or just get a new mag from S&W. I have a similiar problem with a Colt...

    Renewed interest in smelling gunsmoke....

Hi guys and gals. I used to love all kinds of firearms when younger, and fired a few rounds courtesy of USAF. Other interests and family took precedence over shooting in the following years, until I attended a gunshow recently. I was hooked again. Now I've got to pull everything out of storage...

    639-Opinions please.

I can only echo what has been said about the 639; I love mine, especially the way it handles. In my opinion, there's nothing that looks better than an all-stainless autoloader with walnut grips. Some of you 639 owners may know of this already, but there was a recall of this pistol having to...
