I have shot some Remington slugs in mine and would agree they were shooting to POA at least at 21'. If I see the other kind however I will pick some up. So far out of all the rounds I've tried, the Hornady CD 45 Colt is the most accurate.

I'm game for a 45 acp match. What do you have in mind?

Can I use a Colt in this or does the gun have to be a Smith? My Dad has a Colt Mustang that I was able to do this with on my third magazine of ever shooting the gun, off hand at seven yards. That is only six shots but if we can use other brands of guns I think I may enter a target with his Colt.

I seen in another forum where a guy used a chronograph to test both the 38+p and 357 Magnum versions of the short barrel Gold Dots. He shot both rounds out of a 3" 686 and also shot the 38s from a 4". Three inch 38+p was 955 fps. Four inch was 1011 fps. Three inch 357 magnum was 1176 fps...

My LGS gave me nearly $250 trade in on a Taurus model 85 2" 38 special+P towards a S&W model 649-5. A Smith would easily out trade a Taurus. So you may get surprised.

My wife's carry piece is very similar. Hers is DAO though and has laser grips. And I did pick her up some of the Hornady .38 spc lite ammunition too, lol. Those guns only way 12oz. Shooting +p in them is not for the recoil sensitive.

Yours is a nice looking gun. I like dad's. Surprised myself really, lol. I'm looking forward to trying it again. It shoots very nice.

That is awesome shooting Rick. I think you might be five feet too short but I also don't think it would have mattered.
