There were no Gen1 .G22 G23 40 cal. just G17s and a small number of G19s. Prefix "EH" is Gen2. How do I know this? I have a DWJ imports Israeli police trade G17 Gen2 with the Serial number "G 2XXX" frame. It's an odd ball at it has mis-matched numbers matching slide/barrel with a "EP XXX"...
