    Home Defense Shotguns

If you’re smart, and I understand you are, your heart that will kill you. Stop carrying a gun to protect yourself. The odds of you dying in a gunfight are 0.00 out of zero. (For effect) The odds of your heart killing you is likely 100%. Lay down your weapon. The best drug to keep your heart...

    Glock has really shocked me!

I actually did own a Glock 17 briefly. But being Canadian, I couldn’t take advantage of the 17+1 (?) capacity. Suped up the trigger. Still a spongy piece of crap. Surprised by its accuracy but I’m not a TupperWare gun fanboy. Just ain’t right. USA made so no cache of Austria either. And it...

The Continuing Saga of My Wife's Toothache, update #32, #40

Hey no problem. I'll talk you through it. I start with 2 or even 3 blocks and LB and a buccal infiltration. I often ligmaject the area til it blanches good just to be sure. This tooth's been in occlusion for many years so don't be shy with osteotomy - a fool would go straight to the forceps...

ALAS! A LEATHER HOLSTER FOR S&W MODEL 52

Hi Sevens - the rear sight is buried a good 3/4" into the holster so it is well out of harm's way. Barsony also makes a flap holster that might be better if you're bushwhacking or in wet weather. As for the model 39, yes its barrel is an inch shorter so it's of little help.

ALAS! A LEATHER HOLSTER FOR S&W MODEL 52

Like many on this forum, I've searched everywhere for a holster for the S&W Model 52, with no luck whatsoever. One for the Glock 17 is kinda close, a Beretta's is shaped wrong and a 1911's is way too small. Taking one more Hail Mary chance, I ordered the Barsony #33BR. It is an ambidextrous...

    Installing medallions in grips

The medallions are on Ebay for about $35. Anyone with a drill press and a 13/32" Forstner bit can do it. Forstner leaves a very crisp cut; can be found with a search. Just need an original pair of grips to measure and copy position from. They can be glued in with gel cyanoacrylate. Which...

    Mod 52 mags

I've just recently gotten into the Smith 52 and what a dandy pistol it is! I shoot PPC where stages are typically shot in multiples of 6 to appease the commonplace revolvers typically in use. I have been researching on how to do this modification to the 52 magazine properly because it's a...

Questions about new-to-me 1911 DW CBOB in 10mm

Hi Iggy, So a non rounded stop would give more friction on the hammer base as the slide slams into the hammer on its way back? I may be confused here in this assumption.

Questions about new-to-me 1911 DW CBOB in 10mm

Had the extractor out today for a look see. Tension checked out ok so I just fine polished the necessary areas - just a touch up really as the stock profile was quite well done. Same for the ejector. This is the most carefully constructed and well fit 1911 that I've had the pleasure to work...

Questions about new-to-me 1911 DW CBOB in 10mm

Bit of a bear to find commander length recoil springs for 10mm. From my research the stock spring is 22 lbs; I've ordered one of these plus a 24 lb. I'll install and report back here. Thanks again guys.

Questions about new-to-me 1911 DW CBOB in 10mm

Thanks for the tip about Fusion Firearms, cpm. They have a really nice low profile adjustable black rear U notch sight paired with a fiber optic front sight which I think would be a good choice for my purposes.
