    Masterpiece Week – Part I: K-22

Was very pleased to see this photo and commentary on the K-22. I have one, unfired, still in original paper in box, with tools, SN #5k88410, and was purchased in the late sixties. Hadn't been interested in the history of it until I just read this. Now I am suddenly motivated. Thanks for the...

    Selecting a 22 lr handgun - Suggestions?

Start with a Hi Standard Sportking for economy then move up to the Ruger Mark lll and S&W. Take your wife with you for grip comfort, as well as her being more frugal than you (usually). If the store is large enough to accommodate you with an in-door range, ask to fire it once or twice, if not...

    M&P 40 VS Glock 22

I traded my Glock for an M&P 40. Best trade I ever made. Glocks are for kids or adults with small hands.

    1950 was a good year!

I won't be parting with my trust old 1917 in .45 ACP. Not that I was born in that year, but 17 years later. I kept my uncle's .45 when he became bed-ridden. If I could only take it with me.

    5-Screw M&P Snubbies = Cool

Have a 12-2 S&W K-frame SN D 6579xx how to find date of manufacture. Bought as a hide-gun when I entered law enforcement 1979. Shot to qualify back then and not since.

    Early Engraved 44 Magnum

44 In formal attire If I was fortunate enough to own such a masterpiece it would be for looking at not shooting. Far too nice for that.

    Model 1955 five screw

I would say these prices are closer to the prices being asked at gun shows. S&Ws seem doomed to be priced below Colts without reasonable explanation.

    Value of 1960 K-17 22LR no dash

Good advice. I have a 17-3 complete with box, swab, brush and screw driver. The bad news, the brown tissue paper is torn. Only shot it 10 or so times. Over the years it has just gotten more difficult to do anything more than take it out look and admire it and put it away. Some lucky grandson is...

    Best powder for S & W 686 w/4'' barrel

Same advice I would agree with your comment and in the order you presented except I find W231 more versatile and use with bullets lighter than 158.

Any reason to buy full size M&P

Agreeing on a fullsize .40 You comments nearly cover my thoughts, entirely. Own a M&P .40 and I'll keep it forever. Bought a 66-2 cause it was pretty and I love it. Guns are like children, you love all of them, some just get the credit more often than others. All my S&Ws are personal; my very...

    Question for you older guys

I see nothing wrong with being ornery. I waited for 60 years to join the curmudgeon club of America. Now, to the subject; bought my first S&W .38 Combat Masterpiece in 1953, wanted to take it to Korea with me but not possible. In '78 I became a cat I law officer, brought out the pistol, had to...

    Unusal guns of Vietnam

This was true in Korea, as well. I had a .38 S&W Combat Masterpiece in my possession during basic training at Ft Ord, but when we entered a carrier company bound for Korea, I had to ship it home before we debarked. In the 2ID and then 7thID, I was able to collect a burp gun, a Enfield Mk III(?)...

Vintage Buck 110 and now added a model 112!

I still have my Buck 110 w/three dots, an Uncle Henry, and a Puma Folding Hunter, all purchased within one year. Quit deer hunting in 1976 and just tucked them away. They need cleaning, the leather cases are still supple and soft and you won't get any one of them for $10. Also have several...

Here's a heads up for all

I have had numerous calls from various anonymous callers and usually post comments on the sites offered by google. I now take unknown anonymous calls and put the receiver next to my fart machine and turn it on until I hear the busy signal. It has reduced the number of such calls. Incidentally...

    44 Magnum...Engraved with Gold Inlays

I held a S&W Schofield Russian .44 for several minutes years ago. My life was brightened and heightened by it. Seeing your .44 just upstaged my earlier experience; by far a most beautiful presentation of this aesthetically beautiful weapon. A Rembrandt of .44 magnum caliber.
