    Mistake or not

I'm anxious to shoot the 686, but I sent it in to S&W for 27 year old recall on the no dash, -1. Happy with customer service, shipped both ways on their dime. Should have it back by mid- April, will post results..

    Mistake or not

My purpose for the 686 is cold weather ccw. the purpose of the 60-18 was both novelty show and tell.I also have a minor collection of J frames. I will miss the 60-18, but have a limited budjet (Social Securty),and a wife.

    Mistake or not

2yrs ago I bought a 60-18 ASNIB 5" barrel in box with papers etc. for $300, 50 rounds through it. I just traded it for 686 no dash 2.5" barrel in 90% condition, no box or papers, rubber Pachmayr grips, Did I screw up, or is it a fair trade?

I don't know, Earl did not mention anything except mine did not go through LH. Mine has rubber grips, not the wood combat version.

686 2.5" no dash Thanks for all the information. I was aware that Lew Horton was a distributor and orders some special editions for promotions without any internal magic changes to standard models. My confusion came from the 3rd edition of SCS&W not showing normal production for a 686 2.5...

    686 no dash 2.5 barrel

Thanks for the June 1985 date. I guessed 85 or 86, also thanks to BLUEDOT37,and jframejoey for their info about Lew Horton. I think the one I have must be a Lew Horton if the standard 21/2 was not produced until 1988 or 1990. Earl Minot (Lew Horton) says no. I am still confused.
