    Re-blued pre war 38-44 value range Q??

Thank you for the replies, I will try to get some pics of the piece next time I have the opportunity, and post them. At least now I have something to go by price wise. Lots to know and learn in this regard, and do not want to get taken to the cleaners on a "great" buy. Oh, and that is a beauty...

    Re-blued pre war 38-44 value range Q??

The Re-blue is nicely done by a professional, but not factory. Rollmarks are good but ever so slightly softer than the crisp sharp outlines on original non refinished work. No pitting though, This thing looks pretty good, but seller is asking in the 1k range, and my thought was that 500 or 600 I...

    Re-blued pre war 38-44 value range Q??

I am being offered a pre-war 38-44 with what looks to have a 6.5" barrel. Pistol has the older hammer with a serial number and milling grooves, and has been re-blued, quite nicely, and has stag grips. Could anybody here provide me with a price range which might be acceptable for a pistol like...

Just checked the backstrap, and it does not appear to have been altered, and still shows some bluing over its length.

38/44 what have I got here?

I had no idea what it was, nor what it may be worth, only that it is very impressive, hefty, and looks to have hardly been fired although it was obviously carried. Also I like the box... that thing about this is the pistol that was made for the high speed 38 cartridge, and the writing on the...

38/44 what have I got here?

Why did they call it the 38/44? When I first saw it, I liked that it has a hybrid appearance. Round barrel but an underlug, even though it sports the half round front sight. Seems to declare "don't mess with me, or else."
