Hi all, as the title says I am looking for a cylinder and barrel to build an N frame .44 special. Of course I would prefer both be in excellent condition, I can re-blue them if needed, and barrel should be 4" or under. Regards, Millrite

Just checked the backstrap, and it does not appear to have been altered, and still shows some bluing over its length.

Here is a picture of the bottom of the grip, it says "patented june 5 1917". The Hammer also has some type of patent stamped on it.

Yes 4 digit serial, in mechanically great condition, w obvious bluing wear. Very comfortable in the hand.

Just got done reading a few sources of info on this, now I have a bit better understanding of its history.

Why did they call it the 38/44? When I first saw it, I liked that it has a hybrid appearance. Round barrel but an underlug, even though it sports the half round front sight. Seems to declare "don't mess with me, or else."
