Update
Have been to the range only a couple of times since the initial range report. Gun continues to run flawlessly. Decided to move on the Apex flattey with forward set sear (Apex #100-154). A little pricey but wanted the gun to be as good as it can be. Thought this was as good a place...
Forgot to mention
I've loaded the first round both by releasing the slide stop and by sling shot. Pistol doesn't seem to care. The slide stop is a little stiff to release easily with only thumb of right hand, but it's either wearing in or I'm getting used to it. I'm 100% successful now...
Apologies for the delay. I can't comment on changes over earlier model 'cause this is my first M&P. The mags are getting a little easier to load after sitting loaded for a couple weeks, but a Maglula is definitely happening after I got to use a buddy's at the range. Awesome loading aid...
PIcked up a new M&P2.0 Compact 9 last week, and got to the range with it today. Thought I'd share initial impressions. It was ordered in to my LGS for me, so I'm guessing it's fairly recent production (no born-on date on the documentation). I must be lucky because the trigger was not gritty...
A little surprised I haven't seen news here in today's email from Midway about S&W magazines on sale at steep discount. If my link doesn't make it through, search on their web site. Here we go:

Hmmm..... While waiting on delivery of my 2.0 Compact, I've been studying up on laser/light selection, and posted that spreadsheet of findings above.
Thought I'd narrowed the choice of weapon light down to the one to buy, so I moved on to finding a holster for the gun+light combo. Now I'm...
Good to know. Appreciate the experience. I'd probably go with the Red laser version for the lower price, and I think red would be fine for home defense. It'll go on the 2.0 Compact 9mm that I have on order.
I've attached a table in pdf format showing data on various models of weapon lights with lasers. It's info from the internet, and I didn't try to be exhaustive on specs because it's just not available in a consistent format. For example some would list weights without stating whether it was...
Thanks. My main difficulty with the internet search is finding specs on length that'll let me get some idea about how well or poorly it fits that size pistol/barrel.
1. Fit the M&P 2.0 Compact without overhanging the barrel, and
2. Include a red laser
3. Include a strobe
Don't think I'm critical on lumens. Will be used for home defense, so believe I need at least 200 lumens and probably not as much as 800 lumens.
Open to any price point. Would...
Thanks All. I feel better about the trigger and am headed to LGS tomorrow to put a 9mm Compact with safety on order. Cabela's has the one I want available in 2 days, and the LGS has no idea when they can get it, but I have to support the LGS. He's a good guy, and I can wait.
Agree with all above from my limited exposure to the Compact. I was also pleased that my wife's small hands could operate it.
The trigger feel obviously wouldn't be a concern in a home defense situation, but there is the pride of ownership thing too. Is it a good assumption that the...
