Been shooting and working on 1911s for 50 years. The only one I would consider spending that kind of money on is the Ed Brown....and it depends on what you intend to use it for. Factory, out of the box, I like the Dan Wesson offerings and the Springfield Ronan (except they don't have a .38 Super...
Jack- Paul H. would most likely be retired now. We grew up together in south Kansas City. He called me from Alaska a few years ago, but I haven't talked to him since. I looked on his facebook page and he's still in Palmer.-Steve
Trail Boss has been my 'go to' powder for plinking the last few years. BTW, I have a friend that I believe is living in Palmer. His name is Paul Hartig if you ever run on to him.
Thanks for all the info Jack. I've owned several Model 14s thru the years, but just recently my interest in these increased after picking up alike new in the box 8-3/8". I reload for .38 and enjoy the heck out of shooting it, so the Model 14 is a perfect match.

I was curious to know if any 'total production' numbers have been verified concerning the nickel and SAO model 14s/pre model 14s? Now that I'm retired my interest has turned to shooting .38 calibers at my farm, and the K38 Target has always been one of my favorite Smiths. I'm also thinking about...
["The lanyard installation looks kosher to me. Just what I'd expect to see on a factory installed item. Most likely done before it shipped"]
Thanks Mark. I guess this one may be worth lettering since it appears to be original and it's in excellent condition.
I picked this really nice M&P last week, and I need some info regarding its configuration. Serial number is 584xxx, so I'm guessing the late 20s? Grips are numbered to the gun. My question is that the lanyard loop looks original (it even appears to be color case) but obviously it was installed...
Hi Randy. I've owned and built somewhaer between 100-200 Garands. FWIW, depending on the condition of the barrel (MW of 3 or less), I would build it with all HRA parts. Most correct grade CMP guns have the correct parts, but not necessarily the parts they originally left the factory with. A HRA...
