    Thanks MikeyL. This is the photo of the re-finished gun. I had already stripped it and had it re-nickled. There is alot of pitting but I am pretty happy with it. It's alot better than before.

    stan, google flaming bomb smith and wesson and you will get alot of info. Looks like the flaming bomb was on alot of military contract pieces.

    with the bomb and the USAAF number I would think it belonged to someone in the airforce at one time, not sure though.

    digi- I would imagine that would be from salt in someone's sweat, but you never know.

    deacon, What should I do once the paint is off, as far as getting the pine sol off. Rinse with water. That doesn't sound good, but maybe. Any ideas. Thanks again.

    smith17, Thanks. The gun is completely painted with a slick gun metal gray paint. I believe the cylinder is also painted, but yes, the whole thing, except for grip is painted.
