    60-15 Broken trigger mounting stud

You make a very good point about the factory springs. The lighter spring was installed by a friend shortly after I had acquired this gun and it's essentially the only one I'd used; I was very pleased with it and practiced frequently. I have not experienced the problems you related with a lighter...

    60-15 Broken trigger mounting stud

Received the gun back from S&W today, completely repaired and refurbished for no charge. I sent them the gun per their instructions, and they had said they'd get back to me with an estimate of costs if the repair wasn't under warranty; I never heard a thing, and the gun arrived via FedEx this...

    60-15 Broken trigger mounting stud

Thanks, Fastbolt. There doesn't appear to be any frame damage; its a steel frame.

    60-15 Broken trigger mounting stud

Thanks for the reply, Pef. I'm pretty sure it's not under warranty; I bought it used, and it's 10 years old. I have K's book, and I've always had it out and open when doing anything beyond simple exterior cleaning; I did follow his procedure in this case, including removing the trigger. And...

    60-15 Broken trigger mounting stud

I removed the side plate on my Model 60-15 to inspect for cleaning and it wouldn't go back on; the stud that mounts the trigger would not engage the hole in the side plate; all other parts seemed to be located properly. I removed the trigger and found that the stud it was mounted on had broken...

    Model 60 pro

I just purchased a used Model 60 at an auction. It was advertised as a 'Pro' model. How do I tell if that's correct? The serial number is DAT4527. What is the year of manufacture? The grips are Uncle Mike's (came on the gun). I've put 100 rounds of Winchester 125 gr FMJ .38 Special and...

Two K frames from the estate

And to mikepriwer, gig-a-hertz and FPrice, thank you very much for your help. I am a black powder enthusiast, so I know very little about early model Smith & Wesson. Your help is very valuable to the widow.

Two K frames from the estate

Buckwheat01 - Yes, the gun collection will be sold, probably by auction. It will be several weeks before we know the details. There are legal issues to be solved, and some of the guns will be retained by the family as heirlooms - for instance, I'd imagine the M&P Target will go to the eldest...

Possibly a Third Model .22 from the estate?

Did I identify this correctly as a Third Model .22? .22cal single shot pistol with 10" barrel.

Two K frames from the estate

We found three guns that I believe are early K frames; the Blue Book of Gun Values and the Standard Catalog of Firearms have frankly just confused me as to what we really have here. This may be the wrong forum for this, so if so just tell me or move this over, with my apologies. No. 96, an...

Ok, here's some more detail: The grip frame does indeed have a serial number (38554), plus some more interesting information: Two side views of the frame with the grips off: The rear sight: And the hammer:
